American Idol 7 Recap - April 2, 2008

American Idol 7 brought the Top 9 down to the Top 8, and it wasn't an easy ride getting there.

First, the group sang Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" and then there was a recap of the evening before's performances.

Then 3 were called out to see who would be in the bottom 3:

Michael Johns - You are safe
David Archuleta - You are safe
Carly Smithson - You are safe

Then, Ryan Seacrest took some live calls, which really weren't all that interesting. I guess this is their way of trying to make the live show more interactive.

Then, a group called the Clark Brothers performed "This Little Light of Mine" and all I could say was WTF?!?!?

Then, 3 more contestants were called out:

David Cook - You are safe
Ramiele Malubay - You are in the bottom 3
Kristy Lee Cook - You are in the bottom 3

After the millionth commercial break, we returned to a recap of past Idol contestants (not winners) who went country, and Bo Bice, who went rock and roll.

The last 3 were then called out:

Syesha Mercado - You are safe
Brooke White - You are in the bottom 3
Jason Castro - You are safe

After yet another commercial break, this time there was a Ford ad where the Top 9 sang Run DMC's "Tricky", we returned to hear more about Idol Gives Back, which airs April 9, 2008 at 7:30 p.m.

Dolly Parton, in all her plastic surgery glory, performed a song called "Jesus & Gravity," but it's obvious by her breasts that she's doing everything she can to keep gravity from winning.

Finally, we got to hear who was leaving American Idol - RAMIELE MALUBAY was kicked off the show and the girl really lost it, complete with boogers and the lack of breath that goes with bawling.

See you next week.
